Wondering on what to do after it gets dark in Bukit Gambang Safari Park? Fret not! We still have loads of things to do once the sun sets here at BGSP. Come and visit these nocturnal animals when they’re most alive at night. From the beautiful panther to our adorable owls, it’s always a new experience witnessing these animals in their nocturnal habitat.
Our must see animals at Night Jungle!
Did you know that the “black panther” is a black jaguar of the Americas or a black leopard of Asia and Africa? In fact, the black panther actually has normal rosettes (spots), they are often just too hard to see because the animal’s fur is so dark. Black panthers are great swimmers and are one of the strongest tree climbing big cats, often pouncing on prey from a tree, they are capable of leaping up to 20 feet to catch their prey.
Eurasian lynxes are the largest species of lynx in the world and the third largest carnivore in Europe, behind the brown bear and grey wolf. They can grow to up to 130 centimeters long and weigh up to 30 kilograms. They are very strong for their size and mainly hunt deer, but can also hunt smaller mammals and birds if deer are hard to find.
Raccoons are highly intelligent and curious creatures, but they can also be a nuisance to any homeowner. These nocturnal mammals can destroy gardens, make a mess by tipping over garbage cans, and can cause structural damage in search of food.
Did you know that spotted hyenas are also known as laughing hyenas. Why? Because these highly intelligent creatures communicate with yells, whoops and cackles – some of which can be heard almost 5km away! They often hunt in groups and can take down big animals such as wildebeest, antelope, zebras and young hippos. Smaller snacks on their menu include birds, fish, snakes, lizards and insects, too. Beware!
